The following data types are encountered in Six Sigma projects –
- Continuous data refers to something being measured, like the diameter of a shaft or the wait time for a customer at a customer service desk.
- Attribute data, also known as discrete data, refers to things that are classified into a limited number of categories such as good/bad or high/medium/low.
- Count data involves counting things, such as the number of defective units made in a production shift or the number of customers that waited more than 30 seconds to speak with a representative.
